Vetting

This page provides you with information regarding Garda Vetting. All students in the Transition Year programme 16 and over must apply for Garda Vetting.

Vetting for under 16s:

Students under 16 years old cannot be vetted. You will have to wait until you turn 16 years of age to apply. 

Vetting for under 16+:

You must be over 16 years old to be vetted.

STEP 1
You, the student, must complete form NVB1 Form. Please note that if you are under 18, it is your parent’s/guardian’s email that should be entered on this form and not your own.

STEP 2
Your parent/guardian must complete form NVB3 Form. 

STEP 3
Request an enrolment confirmation letter from the school principal.

STEP 4
Post all three documents (NVB1, NVB3 and Confirmation Letter) to

You must submit an enrolment confirmation letter from the principal in order to be vetted.  It is not enough to just submit an NVB1 and NVB3. 

STEP 5
A vetting invitation will be issued to the email submitted on the NVB1 form. Once this form has been completed the vetting process will commence. The time required to issue Garda Vetting can vary from a few days to a few weeks depending on a variety of factors.

STEP 6
The vetting letter will issue to the school when it is ready. It is the responsibility of the student to check whether or not it has reached the school.
