North Monastery Co-educational Secondary School has a strong sporting tradition spanning over 200 years. Our school offers a diverse range of sporting activities from GAA, Soccer and Basketball to name a few.

North Monastery Secondary School first won the Harty Cup in 1919 and went on to win the competition a further 18 times and were runners up on 10 occasions. Our school has always been a powerhouse on the schools basketball scene. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s our school collected a succession of A titles. The school continued its success becoming the 2018-2019 Under-19s Boys Cork Basketball Schools Winners.

Soccer teams were introduced into the school from 2016,  taking part in many local and national sporting initiatives. Our school community has taken part in the Sky Sports Living for Sports programme. This programme aims to boost students confidence, change behaviors, increase attainment and improve life skills.

Over the past 18 years, our Student Council also offers our school community the Soccer League an initiative that takes place each Spring.
