Welcome to the North Monastery Secondary School, the home of education in the Northside of Cork City since 1811. With an outstanding reputation, North Monastery Secondary School has shared a very special place for education within the life of Cork Society. I feel privileged to lead such an exciting and vibrant school, which offers great opportunities for the young people of our community. It is our goal to assist each and every student to succeed. We offer our students the best possible opportunities to become confident, considerate young people who are prepared for any future challenges.
The Edmund Rice characteristic spirit of our school is that of a caring student-centered community, caring about the holistic development of each student. Our students are educated in an atmosphere where the individuality of each person is respected and the best version of ourselves is expected every day. We aim for all our students to be happy and to be challenged in a supportive and safe environment. We hope they will develop into mature, confident, caring, independent people who will continue to shape Irish society.
The tradition of excellent teaching and learning continues at the North Monastery Secondary School with examination results achieved in a very supportive learning environment. Our dedicated staff constantly strive to assist our students to become mature, well-educated young adults. They are assisted by a supportive partnership with our Parents’ Council and Student Council.
Our past pupils have distinguished themselves in every field of endeavour and have contributed greatly, not only to the quality of life in Cork, but also to the rest of Ireland and beyond.
Each of us shares a responsibility in educating your son. We look forward to working in partnership with parents/guardians to provide the best possible education for him.
