History Club in France

This year the North Mon History Club was lucky enough to visit the French city of Toulouse. The Club travelled over to meet their pen pals who they had been corresponding with throughout last year and this year. While in France the students were brought on a tour of their friends school Cugneux just outside the main city of Toulouse.

The students even went to a few classes that were entirely in French and assisted in the creation of an exhibition in commemoration of the First World War. The students got the full French experience while on the trip as they stayed with host families who gave them French food and even gave them the opportunity to practise their French language skills.

The students were treated to a tour of the city of Toulouse by the teachers of Lycee Henri Matisse and were also given a party by their principal. The students on their final day attended a memorial service in the centre of the city. The ceremony was fantastic and the French army put on an impressive display. Even more impressive however was the fact that the History Club’s own President Shay McNamara got up and spoke in French as part of the televised event.

The trip was enjoyed by all the students and they were a credit to the school and their teachers Mr Ryan and Mr Lynch
