Music

Music is the most recent addition to the North Monastery Secondary School’s curriculum. It is currently offered to incoming Junior Cycle students and it is hoped that these students will form the basis of a Leaving Cert class in the future. Music has become a feature of many school events in the last number of years, with the school concert band performing at the school awards night, graduation mass and open night. The school is unique in that it has a bank of instruments ranging from flutes to saxophones to clarinets that students can rent from the school. Lessons are also provided on these instruments, as well as drum and guitar lessons. Music is recognised in the school as being an important part of students’ holistic development and even those who do not wish to study the subject itself at exam level are welcome to participate in events around the school.
