North Monastery Secondary School was the first secondary school in Cork City and County to be awarded the flag that promotes interculturalism, equality, and diversity.
Within our school, we have over 21 different nationalities from Ireland, Poland, the UK, Etheria, Nigeria, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Japan, China to name a few. While English and Irish are the main languages in which our teaching and learning takes place. Our school is home to 23 different languages and dialects these include Polish, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Chinese, Latvia, Romanian and Lithuanian.
Our school was first awarded the flag in 2014 and again in 2018. We follow an 8-step programme, which includes Anti-Racism training and awareness programmes within our community, curriculum and policy work.
