Amber Flag

Amber Flag is awarded to schools who promote wellbeing and mental health within their school community. The Amber flag is award by Pieta, mental health services. We were first awarded the Amber Flag in May 2015 and renewed again in 2016.

Mental health programmes are promoted from junior cycle to senior cycle, with a particular focus in our Transition Year Programme. Students attend the annual Cork Mental Health Seminar and in conjunction with Youth Work Ireland (Cork) and the HSE we provide the ‘Mind Your Head’ programme. Over the years this programme has long-term positive mental health awareness programmes within our school and the wider community.

Our mental health policy ensure that we promote mental health throughout the year either within our curriculum or through our annual Mental Health Awareness Day, our Mental Health Awareness Information Board, fundraising for Mental Health charities and our long-term commitment to positive mental health within our SPHE programmes.

Our school routinely monitors and reviews our Mental Health Policy.
