Junior Achievement has been involved in The North Monastery Secondary School, Cork since 2002.
The programme is run with First, Third and Transition Year students who participate in the various programmes such as Smart Futures (First Years) which help our students to open their eyes to the vast choice of exciting career paths and opportunities in the STEM sector. Economics of Staying in School (Third Years) which explains the economic benefits of an education. Career Success (Transition Years) who learn about key skills such as effective communication, teamwork and interview skills as a Junior Achievement volunteer demonstrates their relevance to school, to work and to life.
Business volunteers visit the classroom once a week for five to six weeks and teach a structured programme. This year volunteers came from Gas Networks Ireland and Construction Industry.
